Tips You Can Do At Home For Relief From Your Plantar Fasciitis

Posted on

Plantar fasciitis is a condition that affects the feet. It can affect one or both feet and can occur in men or women, the young or the old. It usually affects those that are on their feet the most or those that are overweight, but it can happen to anyone. It's a condition in which the tendon in your foot becomes inflamed. This inflammation can be very painful, especially when you are at rest. Your feet may not feel as painful when you are on the move because the tendon is being stretched constantly. Once you stop moving, you may feel the most pain. To give you relief from this pain, there may be things you can do. Read on for helpful information.

Apply Kinesiology Tape

Apply kinesiology tape to the affected foot to help ease the pain. Apply it along the bottom of the foot to offer extra support to the tendon. Apply it from the bottom of the toes to the back of the heel, then apply it across the arch to give you more support. Apply the kinesiology tape to the foot when you're at rest, or you can apply it when you are on the move to give you more support in your shoes. Wear the tape as long as you need to to give you some relief.

Soak Your Feet

Soak your feet in Epsom salts and warm water to remove the toxins from your feet. Soak your feet at least once per week to remove toxins and to help soothe tired feet. Add some lavender oil or peppermint oil to the foot bath for a nice scent and for more relief. Soak your feet in the footbath for at least 10 minutes.

Use Inserts In Your Shoes

Your shoes may not be as supportive as they should be for your feet. Using inserts in your shoes can offer more support and cushion for your feet and can soothe the pain you may have from plantar fasciitis. Change the inserts every few months when they begin to wear out and aren't as supportive as they once were. You can find inserts at your local shoe store, or at most big box stores.

If you have plantar fasciitis, you may be able to alleviate the pain with just a few changes. If you continue to have pain in your feet, talk to your podiatrist about other plantar fasciitis treatments to give you relief.
